Solo Set at Danny’s Tavern (Benefit for the Seldoms!)

On Sunday December 6th, I will perform a solo set at Danny’s Tavern as part of a benefit for the Seldoms, A fantastic modern dance ensemble that I have the honor of working with this winter. More info can be found at www.theseldoms.org

Danny’s is at 1951W Dickens. The performance begins at 9pm and is open to the public. See you there!!!

More info below:

“To Russia With Love” Benefit at Danny’s

Join us at Chicago’s coolest neighborhood bar and help fly us to Russia! The Seldoms are headed to the “Isadora” International Festival of Modern Dance in Krasnoyarsk, Siberia in April 2010 and we’d like your help to get there. Danny’s is donating a percentage of the ring on December 6 to our To Russia With Love fund! (Another reason to love Danny’s!)
Special Musical Guest

Percussionist Tim Daisy (Marchland collaborator) performs a short solo set in support of our tour! Showtime is at 9pm!

“(Tim Daisy is)… consistently solid yet markedly versatile”, says Kurt Gottschalk – All About Jazz.

Come when you can, stay as long as you want! Never been to Danny’s? It’s tucked away in Bucktown, just off Damen, south of Webster. A house turned into a bar!

4th Annual Umbrella Fest!

THE FOURTH annual Umbrella Music Festival BEGINS THIS WEEK!!!

Don’t miss out on what the Chicago Reader calls “perhaps the most important jazz festival in Chicago.”

The festival opens this Thursday, November 5th with a special evening dubbed “European Jazz Meets Chicago,” co-presented by Umbrella Music, the City of Chicago Department of Cultural Affairs, and several European consulates and cultural organizations. Tonight’s FREE concerts will feature some of the best improvising musicians on the European scene.

The concerts continue this weekend at the regular Umbrella Music venues, and this year will feature three elder statesman of the improvised music world: legendary trumpeter Bobby Bradford, renowned multi-instrumentalist Joe McPhee, and the Chicago debut of Japanese alto-saxophone legend Akira Sakata.

The complete schedule is listed below, and can also be found at http://www.umbrellamusic.org.
